Best Before 17.01.2019

Happy New Year!

Whew, where did 2018 go? The entire year felt like a huge blur, albeit quite a productive and rewarding one.

In a couple of weeks, we present an updated version of Sub Rosa Scrolls in our first exhibition of the year—Best Before 17.01.2019. This show is the culminating exhibit of all the work we did last spring, in that media archaeology workshop I mentioned in a previous post about the project. This one’s for all of those who are curious about how old objects and technologies can be repurposed or reassessed to create completely new thought processes and inventions.

I unfortunately won’t be in Linz for the opening reception on the 17th, but I can already feel the electric energy surrounding the show all the way in Los Angeles! Showing Sub Rosa Scrolls twice in just a few months is pretty exciting, as it gives me the opportunity to change things up a bit and compare / contrast both the audience reactions and the general feel of the way the piece is being presented and perceived.

There is still a lot of work to be done for the project to get where it needs to be—but I’m already looking forward to making it completely accessible and open source, to be shared to the entire universe (or at least to whomever is interested). In the meantime, I shall continue to share its progress in any way that I can—with the hope of perhaps exchanging feedback and ideas with some of you over a beer or two during one of these showcases!
